Carvedilol isused to treat high blood pressure and heart failure.

PHARMACOKINETICS:
Absorption: Rapidly and extensively metabolized afteroral use, with absolute bioavailability of 25% to 35% because of significantfirst-pass metabolism.

Plasmalevels are proportional to oral dose. Absorption is slowed by food, asevidenced by a delay in reaching peak plasma levels.

Metabolism: Extensivelymetabolized, primarily by aromatic ring oxidation and glucuronidation.

Excretion: Metabolitesare mainly excreted via bile into the feces. Less than 2% of dose is excretedunchanged in urine.

PRECAUTIONS: Use cautiously in patients with impaired renal function, renal arterystenosis, or serious autoimmune diseases (especially lupus erythematosus) andin those taking drugs that affect WBC counts or immune response.

STORAGECONDITIONS: Store incool and dry place, away from direct heat and light. Do not place in bathroomor kitchen. Keep away from the children and pet.
