MERTONIDAZOLE 400 MGTABLETS

This tablet containsMetronidazole  as active ingredient.

Metronidazole belongsto a class of antibiotics known as nitroimidazoles.

It stops growth ofbacteria  and protozoa and inhibitsbacterial and protozoal infection.

Metronidazoleis bactericidal (kills bacteria) and is used to treat ominous soundingorganisms such as Bacteriodes fragilis, Helicobacter pylori.

It is used for skin,mouth and dental infection.

It is effective fordracunculiasis, giardiasis, trichomoniasis, and amebiasis.

PHARMACOKINETICS:
Absorption: About 80% of an oral dose is absorbed;food delays the rate but not the extent of absorption.

Distributed into most body tissues and fluids, including CSF,bone, bile, saliva, pleural and peritoneal fluids, vaginal secretions, seminalfluids, middle ear fluid, and hepatic and cerebral abscesses

Metabolism: Metabolized to an active 2-hydroxymethyl metabolite and alsoto other metabolites.

Excretion: About 60% to 80% of dose is excreted as parent compound orits metabolites. About 20% of a metronidazole dose is excreted unchanged inurine; about 6% to 15% is excreted in feces.

PRECAUTIONS: If you are taking the rapidly dissolvingtablets keep your hand dry before taking medicine out of packet. Place tabletin mouth wait for it to dissolve and the swallow it with saliva.
