Olanzapine is in aclass of medications called atypical antipsychotics.

It works by changingthe activity of certain natural substances in the brain.

Olanzapineis an atypical antipsychotic primarily used to treat schizophrenia and bipolardisorder.

Metabolism: Metabolized by direct glucuronidation and cytochromeP-450-mediated oxidation.

Excretion: About 57% appears in urine and 30% in feces as metabolites.Only 7% of dose is recovered in urine unchanged. Elimination half-life rangesfrom 21 to 54 hours.
