AMODIAQUINE100 MG TABLETS

Amodiaquine isan aminoquinoline used for the therapy of malaria. 

Amodiaquine hasbeen linked to severe cases of acute hepatitis which can be fatal, for whichreason it is recommended for use only as treatment and not for prophylaxisagainst malaria.

Tablets areusually taken in combination with another medicine to treat malaria.

In combinationtherapy in adults and children.

HOWTO USE: Take this medicine two times per day with milk or water. Take thismedicine as advice by your doctor, Do not chew or crush this tablet. Be awareof contraindications.

PHARMACOKINETICS:
Amodiaquine reached 50% of adultmaturation at 2.8 months (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.5 to 3.7 months) and3.9 months (95% CI, 2.6 to 5.3 months) after birth, assuming that the baby wasborn at term. Bioavailability was 22.4% (95% CI, 15.6 to 31.9%) lower at thestart of treatment than during convalescence, which suggests a malaria diseaseeffect.

Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to drug. Use cautiously inpatients receiving other peripheral dilators and in those with aortic stenosis,heart failure, or severe hepatic disease.
