CLARITHROMYCIN 125 MG DRY SYRUP

This syrup contains Clarithromycin as an active ingredients.

Clarithromycin is in a class of medications called macrolideantibiotics.

Clarithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that fights bacteria inyour body.

Clarithromycin is used to treat many different types of bacterialinfections affecting the skin and respiratory system.

This includes strep throat, pneumonia, skin infections, H. pyloriinfection, and Lyme disease, among others. 

Common Side Effects

Gastrointestinal(GI) effects, general.

Abnormal taste.

Nausea.

Vomiting.

Elevated blood urea nitrogen(bun).

HOW TO USE: Take this medication by mouth with or without food, asdirected by your doctor, usually every 4 hours. For powder packets, empty theentire contents of the packet onto the tongue and swallow. Drink plenty offluids while taking thismedication.

PHARMACOKINETICS:
Absorption: Rapidly absorbed from the GI tract;absolute bioavailability is about 50%.

Widelydistributed; because it readily penetrates cells, tissue concentrations arehigher than plasma levels. Plasma half-life is dose-dependent.

Metabolism: Clarithromycin’smajor metabolite, 14-hydroxy clarithromycin, has significant antimicrobialactivity.

Excretion: In patientstaking 250 mg q 12 hours, about 20% is eliminated in the urine unchanged.

PRECAUTIONS: Contraindicatedin patients hypersensitive to drug. Use cautiously in patients receiving otherperipheral dilators and in those with aortic stenosis, heart failure, or severehepatic disease.

STORAGE CONDITIONS: Store in cool and dry place, away fromdirect heat and light. Do not place in bathroom or kitchen. Keep away from thechildren and pet.
