DIHYDRALAZINE 25 MGTABLETS

Dihydralazine is adrug with antihypertensive properties. It belongs to the hydrazinophthalazinechemical class.

Dihydralazine is usedwith or without other medications to treat high blood pressure.Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks,and kidney problems.

Dihydralazine iscalled a vasodilator.

It works by relaxingblood vessels so blood can flow through the body more easily.

It relaxes bloodvessels and decreases the chance of heart attack chronic heart failure.

PHARMACOKINETICS:

Absorbed rapidly from GI tract after oral administration;bioavailability is 30% to 50%. Food enhances absorption.

Distribution: Distributed widely throughout the body; drug is about 88% to90% protein-bound.
Metabolism: Metabolized extensively in the GI mucosa and theliver. Hydralazine is subject to polymorphic acetylation. Slow acetylators havehigher plasma levels, generally requiring lower doses.

Excretion: Mostly excreted in urine, primarily as metabolites; about 10%of an oral dose is excreted in feces.

PRECAUTIONS: Usevery cautiously in elderly patients and in patients with acute MI, incompleteAV block, sinus bradycardia, PVCs, chronic constrictive pericarditis,hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, renal insufficiency, severe pulmonary disease,hypothyroidism, and in patients with hypokalemia or hypomagnesemia.
