Cefixime & Lacticacid bacillus is a combination of two medicines.

Lactic acid bacillusare inactivated bacteria that are good for the gut.

They prevent thegrowth of the other pathogenic bacteria that cause diarrhea or otherbacterial infections.

Cefixime is usedto treat certain infections caused by bacteria such as bronchitis (infection ofthe airway tubes leading to the lungs); gonorrhea (a sexually transmitteddisease); and infections of the ears, throat, tonsils, and urinary tract.

PHARMACOKINETICS:

Absorption: About 30% to 50% is absorbed followingoral administration. The suspension form provides a higher serum level than thetablet form. Absorption is delayed by food, but the total amount absorbed isn’taffected.

Metabolism: About 50% is metabolized.

Excretion: Excreted primarily in the urine. In patients with end-stagerenal disease, half-life may be prolonged to 11 1/2 hours.

PRECAUTIONS: Contraindicatedin patients hypersensitive to drug or other cephalosporins. Use cautiously inpatients with impaired renal function.
