CHLORTHALIDONE 12.5MG TABLETS

Chlorthalidone isused to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).

Lowering high bloodpressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.

 It is also used to reduce extra salt and waterin the body caused by conditions such as heart failure, liver disease, andkidney disease.

Chlorthalidone isa diuretic (water pill). It reduces the amount of water inthe body by increasing the flow of urine, which helps to lower bloodpressure.

Absorbed from GI tract; extent of absorption unknown.

Distribution: 90% bound to erythrocytes.

Metabolism: NO.

Excretion: Between 30% and 60% of a dose is excreted unchanged in urine;half-life is 54 hours. Duration of action is 24 to 72 hours.

PRECAUTIONS: Contraindicatedin patients hypersensitive to drug and in those with retinal or visual fieldchanges or porphyria. Use cautiously in patients with hepatic disease,alcoholism, or in conjunction with hepatotoxic drugs.

STORAGECONDITIONS: Store in cool and dry place,away from direct heat and light. Do not place in bathroom or kitchen. Keep awayfrom the children and pet.
