LEVOFLOXACIN 250 MGTABLETS

This medicationbelongs to a class of drugs known as quinolone antibiotics.

Levofloxacin isused to treat a variety of bacterial infections.

It works by stoppingthe growth of bacteria. This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections.

It is used to treat anumber of bacterial infections including acute bacterial sinusitis, pneumonia,H. pylori, urinary tract infections, chronic prostatitis.

Levaquin isn'teffective on the common cold, the flu, or other viral infections.

Absorption: The plasma level after I.V. administrationis comparable to that observed for equivalent oral doses (on a mg/mg basis).

Metabolism: Undergoes limited metabolism. The only identified metabolitesare the desmethyl and N-oxide metabolites, which have little relevantpharmacologic activity.

Excretion: Primarily excreted unchanged in the urine. Mean terminalhalf-life is about 6 to 8 hours.
