MEFENAMIC ACID 250 MG&DROTAVERINE 80 MG TABLETS

This tablet containsMefenamic acid and Drotaverine as active ingredient.

Mefenamic acid is amember of the anthranilic acid derivative.

It belogs to class ofnonsteroidalanti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID).

Drotaverine is anantispasmodic drug, used to enhance cervical dilation during childbirth.

It may haveallosteric calcium channel blocking properties. It is a smooth muscle relaxant.

PHARMACOKINETICS:
Absorption: Absorbed rapidly and completely via the GItract.

25% protein-bound. Plasma levels don’t correlate well withanalgesic effect, but they do correlate with toxicity.

Metabolism: About 90% to 95% is metabolized in the liver.

Excretion: Excreted in urine. Average elimination half-life ranges from1 to 4 hours. In acute overdose, prolongation of elimination half-life iscorrelated with toxic effects. Half-life longer than 4 hours is linked tohepatic necrosis; longer than 12 hours is linked to coma.
