ATORVASTATIN 10MG TABLETS

Atorvastatin isused along with a proper diet to help lower"bad" cholesterol and fats (suchas LDL, triglycerides) and raise "good" cholesterol (HDL)in the blood.

 It belongs to a group of drugs known as"statins." It works by reducing the amount of cholesterol made bythe liver.

Lowering"bad" cholesterol and triglycerides and raising"good" cholesterol decreases the risk of heart disease andhelps prevent strokes and heart attacks.

PHARMACOKINETICS:
Absorption: Rapidly absorbed.

Metabolism: Extensivelymetabolized to orthohydroxylated and parahydroxylated derivatives and variousbeta-oxidation products.

Excretion: Eliminatedprimarily in bile following hepatic or extrahepatic metabolism; however, drugdoesn’t appear to undergo enterohepatic recirculation.

PRECAUTIONS: Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to drug and in patients withactive hepatic disease or conditions linked to unexplained persistentelevations of serum transaminase levels. Also it is contraindicated in pregnantor breast-feeding women and in women of childbearing age (except those with norisk of becoming pregnant).
