CHLOROQUINE 250 MGTABLETS

Chloroquine isused to prevent or treat malaria caused by mosquito bites. 

Chloroquine belongsto a class of drugs known as antimalarial.

It is also usedto treat amebiasis. 

Chloroquine phosphateis in a class of drugs called antimalarial and amebicides.

It works by killingthe organisms that cause malaria and amebiasis.

PHARMACOKINETICS:

Absorption: Absorbed readily and almost completely.

Distribution: 55% bound to plasma proteins. Concentrated in erythrocytes,liver, spleen, kidneys, heart, and brain and is strongly bound inmelanin-containing cells.

Metabolism: About 30% of an administered dose is metabolized by the liverto monodesethyl-chloroquine and bidesethylchloroquine.

Excretion: About 70% of dose is excreted unchanged in urine; unabsorbeddrug is excreted in feces.

PRECAUTIONS: Contraindicatedin patients hypersensitive to drug and in those with retinal or visual fieldchanges or porphyria. Use cautiously in patients with hepatic disease,alcoholism, or in conjunction with hepatotoxic drugs.

STORAGECONDITIONS: Store in cool and dry place,away from direct heat and light. Do not place in bathroom or kitchen. Keep awayfrom the children and pet.
