ALLOPURINOL100 MG TABLETS

Allopurinol is used to treat gout and certain types ofkidney stones.

It is also usedto prevent increased uric acid levels in patients receiving cancerchemotherapy.

These patientscan have increased uric acid levels due to release of uric acid from the dyingcancer cells.

It isusually taken with food twice a day.

PHARMACOKINETICS:
Allopurinol undergoes metabolism inthe liver, where it transforms into its pharmacologically active metabolite, oxypurinol. The half-lifeof allopurinol is 1 to2 hours, and oxypurinol is about 15 hours. Both allopurinol and oxypurinol are renally excreted.
