REPAGLINIDE 2 MG TABLETS

Repaglinideisused to control highblood sugar along with a proper diet and exercise program.

Repaglinide helps prevent kidney damage,blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems. 

Repaglinide is used in the treatment of type 2diabetes mellitus.

Repaglinide is an anti-diabetic medication. It increasesthe amount of insulin released by the pancreas which prevents blood glucosefrom rising very high after meals.

PHARMACOKINETICS

Absorption: Rapidly andcompletely absorbed with oral administration.

Distribution: Mean volumeof distribution after I.V. administration during clinical trial was 31 L;protein-binding to albumin exceeded 98%.

Metabolism: Completelymetabolized by oxidative biotransformation and conjugation with glucuronicacid. The P-450 isoenzyme system (specifically CYP 3A4) has also been shown tobe involved in N-dealkylation of repaglinide. All metabolites are inactive anddon’t contribute to the blood glucose-lowering effect.

Excretion: About 90% ofdose occurs in the feces as metabolites. About 8% of a dose is recovered in theurine as metabolites and less than 0.1% as parent drug. Half-life is about 1hour.

PRECAUTIONS:

Before using the medication tell yourdoctor if you are allergic to tablet. Tell your doctor if you have any problemlike skin problem, eczema etc. Do not take this medicine if you are havingstomach ulcer.
