IMIDAPRIL 5MG TABLETS

Imidapril is an ACEinhibitor used as an antihypertensive drug and for the treatment of chronicheart failure.

It reduces bloodpressure by inhibiting angiotensin receptors and decreases chance of heart faliure.

Imidapril and itspharmacologically active metabolite, imidaprilat, are predominantly excretedvia the kidney.

Renal function shouldbe evaluated before commencing therapy with imidapril in patients suspected ofrenal impairment.

PHARMACOKINETICS:
About 70% of the ingested imidapril is absorbed quickly fromthe gut; this percentage is reduced significantly when taken with a fatty meal.It reaches highest blood plasma concentrationsafter two hours and has a biological half-life of two hours. The substance is a  and is activated to imidaprilat,which reaches highest plasma concentrations after 7 hours, has an initialhalf-life of 7 to 9 hours and a terminal half-life of more than 24 hours. About40% of the drug is excreted via the urine and 50% via the bile and faeces.

Precautions: Usecautiously in patients with impaired renal or hepatic function, GI disorders,peptic ulcer disease, cardiac decompensation, hypertension, or coagulationdefects. Because chewable tablets contain aspartame, use cautiously in patientswith phenylketonuria.STORAGECONDITIONS:Storein a room temperature away from direct heat and light.

Keep away fromchildren and pets. Do not put medication in bathroom or any humid place.
