ENALAPRIL MALEATE 2.5MG TABLETS

Enalapril belongs toa class of drugs known as ACE inhibitors. It works byrelaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily.

Enalapril is amedicine used to reduce high blood pressure and to prevent or treatheart failure.

Lowering highblood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks,and kidney problems. 

It is also used totreat heart failure and to help prevent people with acertain heart problem (left ventricular dysfunction) fromdeveloping heart failure.

Common SideEffects

Yellowing eyes/skin, 

Dark urine,

Severe stomach/abdominalpain,

Persistent nausea/vomiting.

HOW TO USE: Take the medicine by mouth 30 min beforetaking the meals and at the bed time. Do not take over dose this may cause sideeffects. Take your doctor’s advice if you have any confusion about taking ofdose.

PHARMACOKINETICS:

About 60% of dose is absorbed from the GI tract.

Distribution: Full distribution pattern is unknown; drug doesn’t appear tocross the blood-brain barrier.

Metabolism: Metabolized extensively to the active metabolite enalapril.

Excretion: About 94% is excreted in urine and faeces as enalaprilat andenalapril.

PRECAUTIONS: Contraindicatedin patients hypersensitive to drug and in those with a history of angioedemarelated to previous treatment with an ACE inhibitor. Use cautiously in patientswith impaired renal function. Avoid use in patients at high risk forcardiogenic shock.

STORAGECONDITIONS: Store in cool and dry place,away from direct heat and light. Do not place in bathroom or kitchen. Keep awayfrom the children and pet.
