CEFPODOXIME DRY SYRUP

This syrup containscefpodoxime as an active ingredient.

Cefpodoxime is anoral, third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic.

It works by fightingbacteria in your body.

It is active againstmost gram-positive and gram-negative organisms.

Cefpodoxime isused to treat infections caused by bacteria, including upper respiratoryinfections, ear infections, skin infections

HOW TO USE: Take this medication by mouth with or without food, asdirected by your doctor, usually every 4 hours. For powder packets, empty theentire contents of the packet onto the tongue and swallow. Drink plenty offluids while taking thismedication.

PHARMACOKINETICS:
Absorption: Absorbed via the GI tract. Absorption andmean peak plasma levels increase when drug is given with food.

Widely distributed to most tissues and fluids. Adequate dataon CSF levels are not available. Protein-binding ranges from 22% to 33% inserum and from 21% to 29% in plasma.

Metabolism: De-esterified to its active metabolite, cefpodoxime.

Excretion: Excreted primarily in urine.

PRECAUTIONS: Contraindicatedin patients hypersensitive to drug. Use cautiously in patients receiving otherperipheral dilators and in those with aortic stenosis, heart failure, or severehepatic disease.

STORAGECONDITIONS: Store in cool and dry place,away from direct heat and light. Do not place in bathroom or kitchen. Keep awayfrom the children and pet.
