NICORANDIL 5 MG TABLETS

This tablet containsNicorandil as active ingredient.

This belongs to agroup of medicines called potassium-channel activators.

Nicorandil isvasodilator it is used in treatment angina which is type of chet pain.

It is used in adultswho cannot take heart medicines called beta-blockers or calcium antagonists.

Angina commonlyarises from vasospasm of the coronary arteries.

PHARMACOKINETICS:
Nicorandil is the potassium channel openerdrug, and by this Nicorandil cause vasodilation of the blood vessels. Becauseof vasodilatation of the blood vessels the blood flow into heart increases andprevents the heart problem. Nicorandil well absorbed after oral administration,and absorbed in GI track and reaches its peak plasma concentration in 30to60minutes. The bioavaibility of Nicorandil is 75%. The half-life of Nicorandil isapproximately 1 hour. Only 1% of Nicorandil is excreted unchanged by theurination.
