MEFLOQUINE 250 MGTABLETS

This tablet containsMefloquine as active ingredient.

Mefloquine belongs toantimalarfial class and it is used for treatment of plasmodium vivex.

It works by killingmicrobes which causes malaria.

When used forprevention it is typically started before potential exposure and continued forseveral weeks after potential exposure. 

Mefloquine is usedto treat malaria and to prevent malaria in travelers who visit areas wheremalaria is common.

Loss of coordination,

PHARMACOKINETICS:
Absorption: Bioavailability of drug is 23% when thetablet formulation is taken with food.

It is more than 99% protein-bound. Proguanilexhibits moderate (75%) protein binding.

Metabolism: It undergoes virtually no metabolism. Proguanil ismetabolized to cycloguanil (primarily via cytochrome P-450 2C19) and4-chlorophenylbiguanide.

Excretion: More than 94% of drug is eliminated unchanged in the fecesover 21 days.
